ROSSLYN LAURA 5

Rosslyn was discharged three days later.Her left hand was bandaged and she looked pale.You could tell she was still ailing.Jason was still in a coma.On her way out she had gone to see him.Jess would not leave her son's side.She went on crying.

Rosslyn wanted to go back to campus since she didn't want to miss anymore classes but her mom insisted that she should stay home for at least a week.

"Dear,you have to regain your energy first."The doctor said so."Belle insisted.

"Mom,I feel okay.I can manage."Rossyln would always stay strong even if she was ailing.She'd try her best not to show it.

"No dear, don't be persistent about going back to school.Am sure you'll catch up when you are back."

Melissa had heard about her friend's accident but she couldn't bring herself to visit.She felt that it would be best if she stayed away.Larry couldn't visit her either.He knew it wouldn't be a good idea if he had showed up.Only Alicia and a few of her classmates had showed up a day before she was discharged.

Belle drove Rosslyn back to High tech a week later.

Rosslyn felt happy when she saw Nora on her way to the hostels.She walked hastily towards her.

"Hello Ms.Nora.Been wanting to talk to you."

"Oh yes,was told you wanted to see me some weeks back."

"Yes.I'd like to transfer to another hostel."

"That'll be hard.New students just reported and all rooms are occupied."

"You can't find someone I could switch places with?"

"I can't do that Rosslyn.Students are just settling in.Unless you know someone you can switch with.You can bring them to me and i'll do the transfer.May I know why you wish to transfer?"

"It's personal."

"Well,that makes things way harder.You know the rules here.You can't switch hostels unless you have a valid reason."

"It's okay,I understand."

She felt a relief when she got to the hostels and Melissa wasn't there.She couldn't stand the tension between them.On top of her pillow was a letter.It was addressed to her.She scrolled her eyes down to see who had written it.It was from Melissa.

Dear Rosslyn,

I am writing this letter to apologize.I lack the right words to express my sincere apologies to you.I miss my best friend.

Remember when we first met?It was a week after we had reported to campus.I had been locked inside the library.I was so immersed in my novel that when the bell rang I didn't hear it.It was not until lights went off that I realized I had been locked in.I was scared.I didn't have my phone with me so I couldn't contact anyone.It was already past 11:00pm.I stood staring outside through one of the windows hoping to see anyone pass by.It had been over thirty minutes and I was loosing hope but saw a torch from a distant.I called out loudly and was so relieved watching it draw near me.

There you were Rosslyn.Standing right before me on the other side of the mirrors.I felt a relief as you rushed to call for help.Our first conversation is still vivid in my mind.How we chatted as we walked to the hostels.

It's my prayer that we remain friends.I missed you.I was so worried when I heard that you had been involved in an accident.I prayed every day for your recovery.If you are reading this letter then am grateful God answered our prayers.Again,I am sorry.

"She's still so goofy."Rosslyn thought smiling at her friend's effort to fix their bond.Melissa walked in as she slid the letter in her briefcase.She walked to her and hugged her firmly.Tears flowed down their cheeks as they held each other.Just then  Alicia walked in.

"Why are you guys crying?"She asked as she sat on Melissa's bed.They were both still standing next to each other.

They didn't answer her but instead busted out laughing.

"Well, that's better.I didn't like the tension that was between you two."Alicia said feeling releaved that they had both made up.

They went on chatting until later in the afternoon when they parted for evening classes.

On their way to class they saw Larry far off headed to another classroom.

"I don't mind you being with him.Am also sorry.It's selfish if I came between you and him since am already engaged."

"No Rosslyn.It's better if I stay away from him.He's been avoiding me anyway."

"Am sorry."

"It's okay.We should pause from everything that has been happening.Its a lot ."

"Yeah,a lot has happened."She sighed as they walked into class.

Early the next day Rosslyn got a call from her mom.

Jason had regained consciousness. She was excited when she heard about it.She had been worried about him.It was such a relief.Before hanging up her mother said she'd pick her before noon to go visit him.

Melissa had accompanied them.

"Thank God you are here."Jess said after greeting them.They met on their way in."Jason won't stop asking for you dear."She held Rosslyn's hand hers.

She gave her a warm smile as if to say am now here.

Jason was happy when he saw them walk in.His eyes were set on Rosslyn.He smiled as she walked towards him.

"Your fiancee is here." Jess said to her son.

After greeting him everyone else left give them room to talk.

"I missed you Rosslyn.Am sorry I got us into..."Before he could finish speaking she interrupted him.

"Hush,"She said placing a finger on his lips instructing him not to say more.

"It's okay,you have to get well first.How do you feel?"

"Tired of being in bed 24/7.Hope I can be discharged soon"

"I know how it feels.You'll be discharged soon.Let's hope for the best."

Jess, Belle and Melissa walked in on them kissing.They had been chatting for a while now.

"You should wait for your wedding guys.See you can't keep your hands off each other already."Jess said smiling.

Belle couldn't help but smile too.She couldn't help but think of how things change so fast.Rossyln wanted their wedding called off a while back but now she had grown so fond of him.

They had brought back snacks and fruits which Jess placed on a stool beside his bed.

Later Belle drove Rossyln and Melissa back to High tech before heading home.
