ROSSLYN LAURA 4

It was a Monday morning when Rosslyn reported back to High Tech.She was still in a low mood.You could tell from how she walked  towards the hostels.She wished to avoid Melissa  but that would be hard since they shared a room.She concluded on asking Nora the hostel mistress to transfer her to another hostel. Nora was not in her office.She decided she'd come and see her later in the day.

In the hostels,she found Melissa chatting with another girl.Her name was Alicia.They were classmates.She would hang around their place quite a lot so wasn't surprised to see her.Alicia was pretty,she had curly long hair.Her eyes were blue and it'd be the first thing you'd notice on seeing her. 

Rosslyn didn't say a word.She placed her bag on her well spread bed before heading for cafeteria.The other two girls just sat and stared at her as she walked out.Alicia seemed to already know that they were not on speaking terms.

She felt happy on finding an empty table at one of the corners.It was not crowded as it would be during mid/lunch breaks and during supper.She ordered coffee, toasted bread and two sausages. She sat there lost in her thoughts.She didn't even notice it when Larry came and joined her.

"Hope you don't me joining you." Larry said as he sat down.

She didn't reply.She just sat there staring into blank space.

"Hey!Rossyln."

"Mh."She was back as if from a dream.

"Larry,when did you..."She wasn't able to finish her statement since he interrupted her.

"Just now.I can go if you like."

She didn't say a word.

"Look Rosslyn,I don't like how tense things are between us.Can we talk about it?"

She didn't reply but instead stared at him.She couldn't believe that things had turned out this way for them.

"It's okay Larry.We can't change what has already happened,can we?"She said at last.

"Yeah, that's true,but I don't like being in conflict with anyone.You know me.I just haven't been myself after finding out about your engagement to that rich friend of yours."

"That's why you went after Melissa to get back at me?My own best friend."

"Trust me,I wasn't with her to get back at you.She came over to my place that day saying she wanted to talk.Part of me thought that it was you who had sent her.I was getting dressed because I was supposed to attend a student council..."

"Spare me the details Larry,it's okay.We are adults.You can do what you want with you life."

While talking she saw Jason walk in.He stood there and looked around as if searching for someone. Then he set his eyes on her,then Larry.What was he doing in her campus?She wondered.He started walking towards them which led to her rising from her seat to meet him.She knew that if he got to where they were seated he'd end up fighting with Larry again.She took him by hand and begged him not to start a scene.

"Jason, please.Let's just go."She whispered.

He heed her words and as they walked out he looked back at Larry as if to send a message of last warning to him. 

"What are you doing here?" She asked him once they were outside.

"Someone called and told me that you were having breakfast with your Ex."

"So you have spies on me now?"

"Am just worried about you wifey.I care that's why."

"You are really something Jason.We are already engaged."She said rubbing a golden ring on her hand to his face."You see, it's all over me.Everyone knows am engaged."

"Okay,"He said brushing off her hand from his face."Promise me you won't be seen with him again."

"On one condition."

"Tell me."

"No more spying.I don't want to feel like a prisoner."

"Okay wifey.No more spies."Jason assured her. "How about we drive off campus. I'll drive you back later."He held her close to himself.

"Where to?"

"Just come,you'll see."

She felt it was a good idea since she wasn't having any classes that day.She also needed to wind off.

Jason car was cosy. It made her feel relaxed. They chatted and listened to music as they drove off.

"How about you transfer to another campus?" Jason suggested.

"It's unnecessary,just two more semesters and am done."

"I can't wait for you to graduate so that we can be officially married." He said smiling as if he was already attending their wedding in some wonderland.

"Watch out Jason."

A deer was crossing the road.Jason lost control which led to his motor rolling off the road into the bushes.

Someone who was driving behind them saw the accident and pulled over.He ran towards them.The car had overturned,it's wheels were now facing upwards. Blood was dripping from the sides.He called an ambulance which arrived in a blur of seconds.

Rosslyn and Jason remained unconscious as they were rushed to the hospital.Their parents had been called.Jason's family was first to arrive.Ivy couldn't stop crying.She adored her elder brother.Her mother and nanny were seated next to her sobbing. Edward seemed composed.He was typing something on his phone when Mr.Landau and Belle arrived.

"How are they?" Belle asked Jess who was now standing.

"We haven't got to see them.They are still in ICU.Neither the doctors nor nurses tell us anything.They only said we should wait."

"Dear God protect our kids." Belle said clutching a rosary tight next to her chest.

A tall slender doctor walked towards them.They all rise up when he stopped before them.He told them not to worry since Jason and Rosslyn were going to be okay. 

"You can see them in a few minutes.A nurse will show you to their rooms." 

"Thank you doctor."Belle said in a low tone as he walked away.

Rosslyn was already awake when her parents walked in. 

"Dear, how are you?" Her mother asked her after kissing both of cheeks.

"Am fine mom."

"You always say you are fine even in your worst scenerio dear.You had me and your dad scared to death."

"How is Jason?"She asked.

"We'll go check dear.He's in another room.The doctor said he'll be fine don't worry."

"You were supposed to be in campus,where we're you driving to with Jason." Her father who had just stood staring at them finally spoke.

"Come on honey.You don't intend to scold your daughter while she's ailing,do you?" Her mother spoke before she could answer.

He didn't say another word but instead walked out.

Jason was still unconscious.A nurse had asked his family to leave after finding Jess tapping him into waking up.She went on crying as they left.Edward tried cooling her off but she wouldn't stop crying.

"That's my only son Edward,he has to wake up."She had told him.

"The doctor said he'd be fine,relax."He assured her.
